Position Summary:

The Adolescents and Youth Officer is located in the China CO (CO) and reports to the UNFPA Population and Development Specialist under the overall guidance of the Deputy Representative.

The Adolescents and Youth (A&Y) Officer substantially contributes to the effective management of UNFPA activities in the areas of adolescent sexual and reproductive health (ASRH) and youth development and related South-South and triangular cooperation initiatives. S/he analyses and assesses relevant political, social and economic trends and provides substantive inputs to project formulation and evaluation, joint programming initiatives and national development frameworks. The A&Y Officer guides and facilitates the delivery of UNFPA’s adolescents and youth programmes by monitoring results achieved during implementation. S/he ensures and guides the appropriate application of systems and procedures and develops enhancements if necessary.

Requirements:

Qualifications and Experience 

Education: 

Advanced degree in health, demography and/or other related social science field.

Knowledge and Experience:

Two years professional experience in the field of ASRH and youth development activities, preferably in programme/ project management.

Languages:

Fluency in Chinese is required. A working knowledge of English is required.

Other Desirable Skills:

Proficiency in current office software applications.
