As part of its activities in Argentinian Republic, UNOPS will assist the Government, through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Worship, in implementing a project is about the restoration of the elevator enclosure and passenger elevator modernization of the Argentinian Consulate building in New York, for which it requires the participation of a specialist in engineering, in the form of Retainer Contract, which implies a framework agreement that is issued over a period of time for the provision of services on a discontinuous basis. The agreement will be signed to develop a consultancy work, which will be paid for each working day and according to the work plan established jointly with the Supervisor and according to the functions description of these terms of reference. The supervisor will indicate the expected results as well as the expected completion time to complete the consulting work.

Functional Responsibilities

The Electromechanical Specialist will be part of the UNOPS Project Team and will contribute in any of the following activities:
  • Preparation of technical responses to queries from potential bidders of UNOPS bidding processes involving designs, execution or supervision of infrastructure works.
  • Participation in the Evaluation Committees of offers that involve the design, execution or supervision of infrastructure works.
  • Review of the design of the restoration of the elevator enclosure and passenger elevator modernization in the five-story building; ensuring correct compliance with applicable regulations and standards.
  • Suggest improvements to designs based on energy efficiency criteria, budget optimization and efficiency in execution.
  • Elaboration of the plan of supervision of work and plan of assurance of the quality of work.
  • Elaboration and review of reports on the supervision of designs and / or execution of infrastructure works, verifying, in its specialty branch, compliance with the conditions established in the contracts of designs or works signed by UNOPS with third parties.
  • Participation and technical advice in the preparation phase of project proposals, identifying studies and designs to be carried out, leading them in their branch of specialty and defining all the technical aspects necessary to ensure the correct execution of the interventions, according to the Principles and practices of UNOPS and applicable regulations in the country.
  • Technical advice to the Project Managers of ARPC in matters of the specialty.

Education/Experience/Language requirements

Education:

  • University Degree in Engineering, with electromechanical specialization

Experience:

  • Professional experience no less than 7 years
  • Specific experience in its specialty, not less than seven years, in the design, execution or supervision of building works related to the design, execution and supervision of vertical transportation systems in buildings.

Language:

  • Fluency in written and oral English.
  • Fluency in Spanish is a desirable requirement

Contract type, level and duration

Contract type: Individual Contract Agreement (ICA)
Contract level: Local ICA 10 - Specialist
Contract duration: 12 months, with option to renew in function of performance


This is a retainer contract, which establishes an estimated number of days to work during the period. The supervisor will call the contractor to work only on the days that are necessary and will be paid for worked days. The days of the period  in which it was not called to work, will not be paid
