The assignment will support the planning, coordination and implementation of UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador activities, as will as supporting the Goodwill Ambassador team in updating normative guidance materials.

Rationale and context of the assignment.

The assigment involves support of on-going relationships with Goodwill Ambassadors (GWAs), planning of GWA activities and general support of the GWA team, with a particular focus on UNICEF Cause-Framework initiatives. The assignment is also responsible for helping to update all Goodwill Ambassador materials that highlight UNICEF’s broader vision and approach to utilizing Goodwill Ambassadors such as the GWA Guidelines.

Scope of Work:

The assignment will support the planning, coordination and implementation of UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador activities, as will as supporting the Goodwill Ambassador team in updating normative guidance materials.

Responsibilities:

Support on planning, execution and monitoring/evaluating GWA activities. Updating and modifying all written materials needed for the Goodwill Ambassador programme such as the Guidelines, Contracts, Briefing Notes as well as information about the GWAs on the UNICEF.org website, and other public-facing platforms.

Tangible and measurable outputs/deliverables of work assignment (e.g. end products), delivery dates, and Costs.

Support the selection, orientation and strategic planning of activities for UNICEF Goodwill Ambassadors and other celebrity spokespersons.

Research and update information regarding GWA activities.  Prepare analysis of activities, as well as monitor and evaluate GWA engagement and create impact reports on GWA support.

Duty Station:  NYHQ

Travel: (if any during length of assignment) Office based assignment, minimal travel involved 

Name of Supervisor of Contract and timeframes for reviewing milestones and performance:Marissa Buckanoff, 6 month review of milestones and performance. 

Performance indicators for evaluation of results(e.g. timeliness, value of services rendered in relation to their costs, etc.) Attention to detail, professionalism, timeliness, discression, results and client-orientation. 

Qualifications or specialized knowledge/ experience required:

  • University degree in Communications, Public Relations, or related field.
  • Demonstrated ability to research and analyze information.
  • 5 years work experience in a professional capacity in Communications, Branding, Marketing or Public Relations.
  • Experience working in the development sector, government or NGO a plus.
  • Experience working in the entertainment industry
  • Strong organizational and communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously with attention to details.
  • Must demonstrate high level of diplomacy, sound judgment, and discretion when dealing with celebrity/entertainment professionals and activities.

Duration: Full time starting mid-October 2017. Please note that consultants are not paid for UN holidays.
