Background

  • Increased understanding of the fixed asset management and accounting processes including the acquisition, capitalization, disposal and transfer of capital assets

  • Learning and understanding office capacity building through training and development.

  • Increased understanding of the International Public Sector Accounting Standards with respect to accounting for property plant and equipment.

  • Learning and understanding the Lease Management key indicators.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Support the enhancement for the asset management standard operating procedures and forms.

  • Support the asset management training and capacity building by improving of the training materials including PowerPoint presentation slides.

  • Research, document and support the asset management training planning and prepare online training materials.

  • Prepare summary documentation of the asset disposal and donation process including authorization in accordance with the delegated authority.

  • Organize the production of annual and other periodical statistical reports including data.

    gathering, analysis and report writing.

  • Support the development and implementation of new systems for internal controls to ensure compliance of the physical asset verification and lease certifications.

  • Contribute to the development of new asset management tools, systems, policies, manuals, templates, guidelines etc.

  • Contribute to the advancement and maintenance of the asset management content of UN WOMEN’s intranet and data content and dissemination to stakeholders.

  • Support other colleagues, sharing knowledge and expertise with asset management, IPSAS and PP&E accounting and reporting process.

  • Synthesize lessons learnt and best practices in Asset Management and Lease Certifications.

Required Skills and Experience

Education:

  • The candidate must be a pursuing a degree in Accounting, Finance or other business related subject at the university level.

  • Be enrolled in a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher); be enrolled in the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum Bachelor's level or equivalent); or have graduated with a university degree and, if selected, must commence the internship within a one-year period of graduation.

  • Must have computer knowledge and experience in using MS Word, Excel and Power point.

Language:

  • Excellent communication skills (written and oral) in English are required.

  • Working knowledge of another UN language a distinct advantage.
