Child Protection Officer

 at NO-A(National Professional) level for a temporary appointment in Beijing (364 days)

 UNICEF China is supporting key ministerial partners to build a comprehensive child protection system with the aim of preventing and responding to all forms of violence against children. The child protection programme has been developed based on that commitment and focuses on two key areas: upstream policy advocacy and national strategy support, and community-level implementation and provision of a broad set of prevention and response services to all vulnerable children. Within those two areas, emphasis is also placed on increasing the availability and use of disaggregated child protection data to inform planning, policy and programme development.

 How can you make a difference?

 We are now seeking a child protection professional to join us to contribute to the availability, analysis and use of disaggregated child protection data. This contribution entails providing technical and other assistance to:

• Collect, analyze and use data related to prevalence of violence against children;
• Strengthen the monitoring and evaluation system for two UNICEF supported pilots (child protection centres and community-based child protection);
• Ensure efficient and effective donor services in relation to the two above mentioned UNICEF supported pilots, including drafting donor reports and project proposals as well as facilitating and organizing donor visits;
• Advocacy, knowledge building and communication, including developing background documents, briefs, and presentations as well as participating in and coordinating advocacy campaigns, events and workshops in relation to the two above mentioned pilots.

 To qualify, you will have…

•  An advanced university degree (Master’s) in Social Sciences or another related field. Exceptionally, a first level university degree may be considered if combined with a minimum six years of professional work experience in a relevant field;
• A minimum 2 years of professional work experience in programme/project development, coordination, implementation and monitoring and evaluation, preferably in child protection;
• Good research capacity;
• Technical skills in using, analyzing and managing data;

• Skills in translating data into proposals for action and advocacy materials an asset;
• Advanced use of Excel, ACCESS and any statistical analysis software considered an asset;
• Excellent interpersonal skills;
• Strong written and verbal communication and presentation skills;
• Strong organisational skills to promote project management;
• Fluency in English and Mandarin, both written and spoken.
