1.       PLACE IN THE ORGANIZATION

The incumbent is responsible to the Head, ICT Services Unit at HQ (Amman) or Head, IS Services Unit at HQ (Gaza), or Field, ICT Infrastructure Officer in the Field to whom s/he may be assigned.

2.• RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

In accordance with Agency policy and procedures, the incumbent:

•  Manages and implements HQ/Field server, storage and database infrastructure services, in terms of deploying, monitoring, operating and documenting adequate and reliable service, in line with established Agency Infrastructure Strategy, policies and technical instructions;

•  Is responsible for implementing and administering all operational tasks of the systems required for delivering the local HQ/Field central server, storage and database infrastructure services; which include:

(i)     HQ/Field Local network servers and storage infrastructure systems;

(ii)   HQ/Field Server room (data centre) facilities, including UPS, A/C, fire detection and extinguishing, surveillance and physical access systems;

(iii) Virtual servers system;

(iv) Network data backup system;

(v)   Network file sharing and printing services;

(vi) Local application and database hosting services.

•  Provides first level of technical support to the HQ/Field staff on issues related to server, storage, applications hosting, database and printing services; makes necessary technical changes as a result of support issues;

•  Provides input on projected and new server, storage and backup infrastructure hardware, software and licenses capacity requirements, sharing the Field's specific needs; participates in implementation design plans, tests and rolling out;

•  Administers relevant infrastructure and introduces configuration changes with minimal disruption including the following:

(i)     Physical and virtual server and storage Management;

(ii)   Shared Storage and Printers Access Management;

(iii) Service packs, software updates and patch management;

(iv) Managing network shared data Backup and Restore activities;

(v)   Local application and database systems installation and updates.

•  Advises, contributes and provides recommendations on server, storage and backup Infrastructure systems and policies;

•  Keeps abreast of latest technology developments for deploying server and storage systems; makes relevant recommendations;

•  Performs such other duties as may be assigned.

3.• MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Academic and professional qualifications:

•  •A university degree in information technology, computer or electrical engineering or other related discipline;

•  •MS Windows Server and MS SQL certification.

Experience:

•  •Five years of MS Windows Server and MS SQL systems experience;

•  •Knowledge and experience in MS Server and SQL systems including centralized monitoring and management in large scale, high availability environments.

•  •Knowledge and experience in backup technology and operations.

Language:

Good command of written and spoken English and Arabic

Competencies:

(i)       Service oriented and ability to establish and maintain effective working relations;

(ii)     Commitment to continuous learning, willingness to keep abreast of new developments in the field of information technology;

(iii)    Problem solving skills;

(iv)   Ability to work under stress;

(v)     Ability to plan and organize the ongoing assignments;

(vi)   Creativity and ability to take initiative;

(vii)  Good skills in documenting technical content.

4.• DESIRABLE QUALIFICATION:

(A)    CISCO Certified Network Professional (CCNP) certification;

(B)    ITIL training and certification;

(C)    Knowledge of UNRWA's operations and computer facilities environment.

(D)    Knowledge of VDI Technology and Thin Clients System.

(E)    Possession a valid driving license.

•5.• ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:

(A)    The incumbent may be required to travel in Agency's area of operations;

(B)    The incumbent may be required to work beyond normal duty hours.

6.• EQUIVALENCY:

Candidates with an equivalent combination of relevant academic qualifications, professional training and progressive work experience may also be considered, should less than two qualified candidates are found.
