18-05 Research Associate - National Consultant (Vietnam)

POSTING TITLE: Research Associate- Consultant

PROJECT: TAP-5 project

WORK LOCATION: Dalat, Vietnam The International Potato Center (CIP) is seeking a national consultant to plan and conduct research plans and project to ensure outstanding agronomic conditions of all plantings and experiments. Expected duration:

• This consultancy contract is for 12 months spread over 2018, with possibility of extension, subject to performance and availability of funding.

Deliverables and duties:

• Evaluate and analyze the data collected in the research project to guarantee its accuracy and relevance to the project outline.

• Capable of working independently to guarantee the correct execution and timing of all activities of the project. • Proposes experiments in according to variety of methods, availability and quantity of resources to contribute with the main research project.

• Analyze and evaluate experimental findings to contribute with the research analysis • Manage research data generated from field trials to maintain an accurate and updated database system.

• Manage potato experiments and plantings and carry out selection from true seed.

• Assess and maintain health and genetic identity of breeding materials.

• Keepoff-lineandon-linebreedingdatamanagementsystemsupdatedofTAP-5projectonshared

platform among partners.

• Determine genetic merit segregate and advanced lines and new selections through phenotypic and genotypic assessment

• Contribute to assessment of varietal preferences and use as a part of interdisciplinary teams • Interact with and manage relationships with national and regional partners.

• Organize and facilitate national and regional workshops and knowledge sharing events. • Represent CIP in relevant workshops, congress and meetings as required.

• Engage as requested with policy makers, and National Programs and other actors as needed to support knowledge sharing and capacity building.

• Produce progress reports of the experiments on regular basis to contribute with the data collection.

• Comply with applicable health and safety CIP policies and procedures.

• Any other duty assigned by the supervisor related to TAP-5 project.Qualifications/special skills: • Master’s degree in Agronomy, Biology or related area. Preferably Plant Breeding and Genetics • At least 4 years of experience required in similar position preferably on root crops. • Knowledge of national agricultural research systems in Southeast Asia

• Fluent in English and official languages according to specific country location.
