NRC in the Islamic Republic in Iran

NRC started operations in Iran in 2012. We currently deliver humanitarian assistance in 5 provinces in the sectors of Education, Food Security and livelihoods, Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH), Shelter construction, as well as Information, Counselling and Legal Assistance (ICLA). We co-lead several technical inter-agency working groups and provide capacity building to humanitarian partners in country.

Livelihoods and food security Assistant Responsibilities:

Generic responsibilities (max 10)

  1. Adhere to NRC policies, tools, handbooks and guidelines
  2. Assist with the implementation of the support function portfolio according to plan of action
  3. Prepare and develop status reports as required by management
  4. Ensure proper filing of documents
  5. Promote and share ideas for improvement of the support function

Specific responsibilities

  1. Assist LFS Team in the planning, coordination and execution of the Livelihoods and Food Security (FS) activities such as Cash Transfer Programming (CTP) (e.g. cash cards, unconditional/conditional cash transfer, etc.); livelihood (e.g. vocational skills trainings, small scale business, etc.).
  2. Mobilize communities in project designing, implementation and monitoring following a participatory approach
  3. Assist in conducting training sessions for beneficiaries, including preparation of training content and material and carrying out logistical arrangements
  4. Assist LFS team in responding to Afghan phone calls (complaint mechanism) and prepare regular report on feedback received and follow ups.
  5. Assist LFS team in administrative work related to Food security and Livelihoods activities
  6. Monitor and report on the project activities and ensure compliance with plans and NRC standards
  7. Distribute and monitor the use of materials and supplies according to NRC’s handover procedures
  8. Suggest new methods and approaches in order to improve the quality of the livelihoods and food security activities
  9. Carry out data collection through home visits, phone based data gathering, and other means
  10. Conduct needs assessments on a regular basis
  11. Carry out any additional study or task assigned by the supervisor

Our ideal candidate will have:

  • Having experience of working in the implementation of projects in a humanitarian/recovery context
  • University bachelor’s degree preferably in social sciences, development studies, nutrition or other relevant disciplines.
  • Previous experience working in complex and volatile contexts is an asset.
  • Good working level of English and Persian, both written and spoken
