Background Information - Job-specific

UNOPS Baghdad Office has a team of staff that are responsible for implementing projects in Baghdad. The team and during their daily work seeks support from UNOPS Operational Hub in Amman for finance, HR and procurement issues while performing the implementation work on the ground.

The UNOPS office team located in  Baghdad is planning to recruit an ICT Officer to help and support in all ICT related matters. 

The ICT Officer will provide leadership in implementation of ICT services and will be responsible for documentation management, development & implementation of ICT management systems and strategies, and provides information management tools and technology infrastructure.

The incumbent will be responsible for reviewing of and advising on the use of new technologies that will enhance Baghdad’s office productivity while promoting a client-oriented approach.


Functional Responsibilities

The incumbent will report to the project manager in Baghdad office for all daily routine tasks while he/she will report to the ICT Support Specialist at UNOPS Operational Hub in Amman for technical issues:

  • Configure network devices and maintain Internet.
  • Maintain and administer the server and workstations on the network for print and file services.
  • Administer network operating systems and upgrade them when necessary.
  • Assist users with network operating systems and other applications.
  • Maintenance of the UNOPS Baghdad Office hardware and software.
  • Maintenance of all UNOPS network connections and update anti-virus signatures on a weekly basis.
  • Manage action on trouble shooting calls related to IT related problems.
  • IT equipment Procurement, prepare RFQs, Identify vendors, Locally and internationally
  • Logistic Assistant, assist logistic staff, in obtaining permit for using some technical IT equipments
  • IT Consultations and troubleshooting to staff in Baghdad office.
  • Design, IT Strategy for monitoring, UNOPS office in Baghdad
  • Support staff in using video and audio conferencing tools such as WebEx, Skype, Polycom realPresence, …etc.
  • Assist users in using Software Applications, such as Adobe, Visio, excel, and WinWord etc.
  • Complete additional tasks as may be required.

3. Monitoring and Progress Controls

  • Network devices and Internet maintained and configured.
  • Network operating systems administrated and upgraded when necessary.
  • UNOPS Baghdad Office Network hardware and software maintained.
  • Weekly maintenance of all Baghdad office network connections and update anti-virus signatures.
  • IT equipment Procured, RFQs prepared, vendors identified, Locally and internationally.
  • Permit for using some technical IT equipments obtained for Logistics staff.
  • IT Consultations and troubleshooting to the UNOPS office in Baghdad.
  • UNOPS Baghdad network connection IT Strategy for monitoring designed.
  • Video Conferencing connected and moderated.

Education

Bachelor degree in telecommunications, computer science, electronic engineering or other relevant background.


Experience

  • Minimum of two years of work experience in an international fast-tracked environment is required
  • Minimum of two years experience in network administration, management of hardware and software platforms, telecommunications facilities is required

Languages

  • Excellent command of Arabic and English language is required.
