ORGANIZATIONAL CONTEXT

As part of the Scaling Up Nutrition efforts the World Food Program (WFAs part of the Scaling Up Nutrition efforts the World Food Program (WFP) in collaboration with the Government, especially the Department of Nutrition, HIV & AIDS (DHNA) is laying the foundation for the establishment of SUN Business Network in Malawi. To support these efforts, World Food Programme (WFP) Malawi is seeking a motivated self-starter person, to manage the day to day operations of the Scaling Up Nutrition (SUN) Business Network in Malawi. The candidate will serve as the main link between SUN Business Network members, Government and other key stakeholders, and will lead on all activities linked to the Network, including the development and dissemination of the SBN strategy and mobilizing stakeholders. These efforts will feed directly into the Country’s broader SUN and nutrition agendas.

JOB PURPOSE

Support the implementation and management of ongoing operations of the Scaling Up Nutrition Business Network, with the aim of increasing engagement of the Private Sector in nutrition in Malawi. 

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES (not all-inclusive)

1.     Development and dissemination of SBN strategy and workplan (2018-2020).

2.     Develop fundraising/Sustainability strategy for SBN Malawi (2018-2020):

3.     Mobilize businesses/ private sector partners to create an awareness of their role in nutrition.

4.     Increase commercial engagement in the nutrition market

5.     Facilitate the improvement in the nutrition regulatory environment

6.     Communications and reporting:

a.     Contribute to strengthen communication efforts through the:

                                        i.     Spearhead the development and dissemination of promotional materials.

                                      ii.     Compile and disseminate lessons on SBN establishment;

                                    iii.     Explore and recommend different ways and channels of communication to make SBN Malawi visible.

DESIRED EXPERIENCES FOR ENTRY INTO THE ROLE

At least 5-6 years of postgraduate professional experience, in both the Private and public field of work. Knowledge of nutrition will be an added advantage.

Solid understanding of private sector engagement on nutrition, with a broad knowledge of best practices, techniques and processes. Good communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build relationships, persuade, influence and adapt communication styles to different situations and individuals.

STANDARD MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS


Advanced University Degree in Business, Marketing, Development Economics, and any other relevant field.
