Country Office Background

Norwegian Refugee Council (NRC) established its presence in Jordan in November 2012 in response to the conflict in Syria and resulting refugee influx. NRC Jordan currently employs over 500 national staff in Jordan is now one of the largest INGOs in the country. In 2018 the Country Office continues to focus on provision of protection, assistance and access to essential services for vulnerable Syrian refugees in formal camps and host communities. NRC strives to combine its programmatic activities with evidenced-based advocacy work focused on policy change and strong external communications and media engagement and. The Country Office also works to ensure safe and integrated programming through ensuring protection is effectively mainstreaming across all programming.

Our Ideal Candidate:

We are seeking a motivated humanitarian professional to join our Jordan Country Office’s operations. They are a university graduate with at least 5 years’ experience as an HR Manager internationally. 

We are particularly looking for a strong manager with experience overseeing HR for a large programme office in the Middle East. Relevant experieince related to workforce planning, staff care and development and training are also essential. Fluency in written and spoken English is essential and knowledge of Arabic would be an asset. 

Position Description: 

The Manager will oversee, develop and strengthen all HR and Admin functions in order to provide efficient and effective Human Resources and Administration support to the NRC Country Programme, Jordan. With a special focus on effective Recruitment, Staff development and training. Specific responsibilities related to the position include:

  • Implementation of the Global Standards and initiatives at the Jordan Country Office
  • National staff development and capacity building focusing on new HR Coordinators & HR Officers
  • Support and guidance to the international staff
  • Strengthen the recruitment processes ensuring adherence to the minimum standards
  • Strengthen training and inductions / on-boarding.
  • Improve the quality of Performance management conducted by line managers across the Jordan country office.
  • Admin function in NRC Jordan including guest house mgmt., visa and residency processing, reception services, guest welcome service, cleaning services are all well-functioning.
