The EIB, the European Union’s Bank, in the framework of its GRAD programme, is seeking to recruit for its Risk Management Directorate (RM) – Operations Department (OPE), Structured Finance and Equity Division (SFE), Equity Unit (EQU) at its headquarters in Luxembourg, a:

Graduate (GRAD) – Structured Finance

Purpose

The Graduate performs market research and credit risk analysis as well as maintains databases in order to support the credit risk officers in  providing independent credit opinions on new equity, quasi - equity, project finance and structured debt operations for the Bank.

Operating Network

The Structured Finance and Equity Division is responsible for providing independent credit opinions on new equity, quasi - equity, project finance and structured debt operations as well as on post signature events and restructuring proposals received from the front office and monitoring functions in the Bank.

The Graduate, under the guidance of, and reporting to, the Head of Division and Heads of Unit, will assist credit officers and actively contribute to: market research and analysis; credit risk analysis of PF and Equity projects; review and analysis of financial accounts and financial models and the equity valuation and annual review process.

Responsibilities/Accountabilities

  • Perform regular screening of project and structured finance publications and information sources
  • Prepare reports summarising latest industry news, information and statistics
  • Screen and circulate reports and analysis from Rating Agencies within the Division.
  • Assist credit officers in analysing industry trends and statistics which will be used for assigning investment scores and counterpart/project ratings. 
  • Assist credit officers with the credit analysis of projects/companies by undertaking a financial analysis, reviewing financial models and analyse the rationale of the project.
  • Prepare and maintain a data base and presentation template for the projects under the Division’s responsibility
  • Participate in IT and database developments in support of the Division’s activities
  • Coordinate with team members the equity valuation and annual review process to ensure that their timely validation by the Division.
  • Contribute to the preparation of credit risk assessment reports under the supervision of credit officers

Qualifications

  • University degree in Finance, Economics or any related subject with some knowledge of project finance and / or equity financing
  • Knowledge of financial analysis and preferably also in financial modelling and credit risk assessment in particular with respect to the Division’s areas of specialisation
  • Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel and Power Point)
  • Excellent knowledge of English and/or French, with a good knowledge of the other. Knowledge of other EU languages would be an advantage
  • Work experience should be limited to a maximum of two years after graduation, excluding summer jobs and internships.
