The EIB, the European Union's bank, in the framework of its GRAD programme, is seeking to recruit for its Secretariat General (SG), Economics Department (ECON), Country and Financial Sector Analysis Division (CFSA), at its headquarters in Luxembourg, a:

Graduate - Economics Department

This is a full-time position

The term of this contract will be 2 years

Panel Interviews are anticipated for the first half of November 2018

Purpose

You will join our Country and Financial Sector Analysis Division. As a Graduate, you will support senior members of the team in preparation of various studies, analytical reports, presentations and assessments.

Accountabilities

  • Contribute to monitoring of the financial market trends, investors’ appetite for risk and developing alternative risk scenarios for Europe and beyond 
  • Support the work on country and financial sectors for both the EU and extra-EU, including the support to rating assignment.
  • Support and work on the development and enrichment of Department’s macroeconomic views on Europe and major emerging economies, including the generation and maintenance of dedicated databases
  • Contribute to maintenance, update and  development of internal rating toolkits
  • Actively contribute to the development of macroeconomic stress scenarios using IHS or similar macro-structural models under different exercises and frameworks, notably IFRS9 as well as macroeconomic stress testing
  • Under the supervision of more experienced colleagues, you might be in charge of rating assignment for a few countries and will help streamlining the coordination process. 

Qualifications

  • At least Master’s Degree in Economics/Finance 
  • Familiarity with macroeconomic topics combined with strong analytical capabilities 
  • Strong econometric skills and knowledge of major econometric programs (Stata or Eviews) 
  • Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office tools 
  • Excellent knowledge of English and/or French, with a good knowledge of the other.  
  • Your work experience should be limited to a maximum of two years after the last graduation, excluding summer jobs and internships
