SCA Background

The Swedish Committee for Afghanistan (SCA) has been working in Afghanistan since 1982, presently managing development programmes concerning Health, Education, Rural Livelihoods and Community Governance, with a total annual budget of roughly USD 40 million. The total number of staff is around 5,500. During the last 10 years SCA has undertaken a change process moving from a primarily humanitarian service delivery approach towards more of a developmental role, putting increasing emphasis on capacity development, rights-based programming and outcome orientation. The mission of SCA is to empower individuals, communities and local organizations, primarily in rural areas and with particular focus on women, girls, boys and vulnerable groups such as people with disabilities, so that they may participate fully in society and influence their own development. Scope of work:

 Pharmacy Assistant to type information into our database from paper documents and support management of   provincial pharmacy stock. The ideal candidate will be expert on using computer and a fast typist with a keen eye for detail. S/He will directly report to Pharmacy Snr Officer or pharmacy officer. Understanding of data confidentiality principles is compulsory. S/He will support data collection, entry to database, packing of medicine kit to HFs and timely supply of medicine to HFs

Qualifications & Requirements:

  • He/she must be graduated from recognized university of Pharmacy/Institute as pharmacist, pharmacy technician, or relevant higher education recognized authority in Afghanistan or other countries.
  • He/she must have at least two years of working experience in the field of Data entry, pharmacy supervisor, pharmacy stock management or pharmacy assistant
  • Training in PLIS, Data Use, and experience of using health/pharmacy data    
  • He/she must be a good team player and be able to work in under pressure conditions/circumstances
  • He/she must have good communication skills
  • Has the ability to write and speak local languages (Pashto, Dari) and English

Main Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate and supervise the activities of health workers working in HFs particular HFs pharmacy
  • Provide supervisory and monitoring visits as per approved schedule from HFs and support the health facilities staff
  • Transfer/entry data from paper formats into computer files or database systems
  • Type in data provided directly from Health facilities
  • Support pharmacy stock management system and ensure daily update of stock card balance
  •  Organize pharmacy stock with standard pharmacy rules
  • Update existing data, and data verification in the field/HFs
  • Support medicine packing and supply to HFs and HPs
  • Retrieve data from the database or electronic files as requested for reporting or decision making
  • Ensure provincial stock and HFs pharmacy stock physical inventory regularly
  • Support FIFO and FEFO practice in provincial and HFs pharmacy stock
  • Support packing and supply of an emergencies kits
  • Through transfer of knowledge and skills, enhances the ability and capacity of health worker in Health facility to ensure smooth implementation of pharmacy system
  • Identify training needs of health workers pharmacist and design training package for the capacity development of health workers/pharmacist
  • Promote gender equality, non-discrimination with regard to ethnic, political and religious background
  • To participate in workshops, seminars & conference organised by the SCA, MoPH.
  • Promotes good coordination with all SCA units and other department at WRMO and KMO especially Wardak BPHS and health unite   
  • Maintain good cooperative relation with PPHD and other relevant authorities/stakeholders at national and provincial
  • To actively contribute to the successful development and good reputation of the SCA
  • Act according to the policy and regulations of SCA
  • Keep updated with issues related to SCA and the environment where SCA operates
  • Promote an attitude of team spirit and a strong focus on quality
  • Develop good co-operation with SCA units, authorities, institutions and other NGOs
  • Do related job as delegated by the Pharmacy Snr Officer, Technical Manager, or Project Director
  • To do any other official duties assigned by the supervisor
