Green Growth Performance Measurement Intern

The Office of Thought Leadership (TL) plays a critical part in supporting GGGI’s global, regional, and country-level programs and projects by:

  • demonstrating GGGI’s leadership in evidence-based program planning and implementation, research, analysis, tools and methodologies, and knowledge dissemination, exchange, and cooperation;
  • producing GGGI’s flagship and strategic knowledge products;
  • conducting applied or policy research and analysis, and designing and disseminating analytical tools and methodologies;
  • overseeing GGGI’s knowledge sharing (South-South cooperation) activities;
  • leading climate diplomacy programs and activities;
  • providing technical support to operational teams; and
  • building and supporting partnerships with academic, research, and development institutions.

One of TL’s projects that aims to support knowledge sharing is the Green Growth Performance Measurement (GGPM) Project. The GGPM has three components – the Green Growth Index, a Simulation Tool, and an Evidence Library. This internship is related to the Index and Simulation Tool. GGGI’s global Green Growth Index is a composite index that aims to measure, track, and communicate green growth performance. It is intended to raise awareness and sustain green growth momentum in the public and private sectors. It serves to benchmark countries’ green growth performance through a common set of variables based on publicly available and credible data. Because the Index is based on a robust sustainability framework, it can highlight achievement of many relevant Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) that are linked to green growth. The Simulation Tool is designed to allow users to enhance their knowledge on how countries’ green growth performance can be influenced by different policy options within these dimensions. The Green Growth Index and Simulation Tool are integrated approaches and so the validity of the underlying models and assumptions of the latter depend on the policy relevance of indicators that frame the former.
