UNICEF is looking for a consultant to provide written content and support UNICEF Lebanon Communication and Private Sector plans (Arabic/English)

Objectives:

The production of written content (articles, human interest stories, briefings and fact sheets) on UNICEF supported programmes to be included in UNICEF documents and disseminated through its internal and external communication channels.

Purpose of Assignment and Scope of work:

 UNICEF Lebanon works with more than 50 partners on different activities directly linked to its implementing programmes. To communicate and report on UNICEF work in Lebanon, the programme news, needs and activities should be shared with target audiences such as the donor community, the private sector and the general public on a regular basis through written content in different formats depending on the objectives. This includes Human Interest Stories (HIS), briefing notes, fact sheets and articles. 

 

The contract holder will be required to produce this written content in different formats. UNICEF will provide guidance on the purpose of each deliverable and facilitation with the implementing partner to access programmes and locations.

 

The deliverables will either be based on reporting done by the LTA holder or a briefing by UNICEF programme staff.

The contract holder will provide for their own transportation and translation.

Each submitted story/article should be approximately 600 words.

Deliverables:

  • 600-word Story / article based on assignment details provided by UNICEF.

Timing: The duration is for 11.5 months.

Qualification Requirements:

  • Proven experience in writing news stories, articles, briefing notes and reports in English or Arabic.
  • Experience in writing for UN Agencies is an asset.

Submissions will be evaluated technically and financially.

The technical evaluation will carry 70% of the total evaluation score.

Technical Offer is composed of 70 points. Passing mark is 49 points.

 The technical offer will be evaluated based on the following criteria:

  1. Writing samples: Please provide at least three published writing samples on issues relevant to humanitarian work (humanitarian assistance, child rights, refugee issues). Samples should be from the last two years. (45 points, 15 points per story where the writing style, writing quality and humanitarian experience will be evaluated)
  2. Experience of the candidate in writing and editing and evaluated as follow:
    1. first 10 years will get 20 points;
    2. each additional year will get one point up to a maximum of 25 points

Curriculum Vitae. CV should provide links to other writing samples, assignments and media/NGO/UN that the candidate has worked for.

Only candidates obtaining the minimum pass mark in the technical evaluation (49 points) will be considered for the financial evaluation.

Financial Offer is composed of 30 points

The lowest financial offer will obtain 30 points.
