Job Description

This position involves both strategic and operational responsibilities.  The Regional & Strategy Support Officer will be responsible for monitoring progress toward strategic initiatives across RAI, supporting IRC program offices in the US to meet commitments outlined in their Strategic Action Plans (SAPs), as well as be a key interlocutor to offices in support of their service delivery.  He/she will track progress against objectives set out in SAPs, and work with offices and Regional Directors to identify strategic solutions to ensure high-quality timely delivery.     They will provide regular status updates for RAI Executive Leadership Teams on SAPs and strategic initiatives, and work closely with Regional Directors for with critical operational and field facing support. This position has a dual reporting structure to the Atlantic Central Regional Director and the Senior Technical Advisor for Design, Monitoring and Evaluation.

Major Responsibilities:

Strategic Initiative Delivery Planning & Reporting

  • Ensure that each of the initiative lead has set deliverables for the year.

  • Assess progress of each initiative on a quarterly basis and provide communication/presentation materials for leadership.

  • Problem solve with initiative leads on any challenges in implementation of the projects; raise issues to Leadership as necessary.

  • Provide project ratings and rationale as requested by President’s Office.

Support Annual Review of Strategic Action Plans (SAPs):

  • Identify challenges and opportunities for improving existing SAP processes.

  • Work with key stakeholders to develop SAP guidance and user-friendly templates.

  • Drive communications with the field, in collaboration with Regional Directors, regarding key SAP processes.

  • Support offices in updating SAPS, through 1:1 calls, and in-person SAP workshop facilitation

  • Create report templates for each office with updated commitments and commitment status’.

  • Obtain office reports and compile individual report data into dashboard; analyze and present report trends.

Support to US Field Offices and Regional Directors

  • Keep abreast of key field issues, support needs, program analysis, and business development updates, and other administrative, program and logistical support needs and summarize for Regional Directors.

  • Provide administrative, logistical and workflow management and coordinate RD signature authorizations, time and effort, keep track of administrative expenses and fill and submit appropriate vouchers.

  • Assist Department Manager in the calendaring of events and activities across the regions.

  • Provide travel, administrative, scheduling, material, agenda organization for regular field visits and network/regional wide Executive Director meetings (approx. 3-4/year).

  • Provide high level support to the RD for communications, presentations and meeting materials using Microsoft Office and other digital workflow planning tools such as box, cloud systems, including use of info-graphics and dashboards.

  • Provide proactive, timely & high-quality engagement and communication with field offices and maintain a high level of efficiency, composure, and optimism in high-pressured situations.

  • Assist in roll-out of network-wide initiatives, as requested.

Information Management and Reporting

  • Utilize and improve existing Strategic Initiative and SAP report templates with updated commitments and commitment status.

  • Obtain strategic initiative and field office reports and compile individual report data into dashboard

  • Analyze and present report trends.

  • Lead development of Field Snapshot and Office Compendiums to capture Operations, Resource Acquisition, Partnership, Programmatic information, and Support Requests.

  • Develop communications and presentations for standing RAI meetings related to Strategy and Field Office updates.


Qualifications

Experience:

  • Experience managing projects with multiple stakeholders.

  • Experience managing and reporting project performance data.

  • Experience in humanitarian assistance and non-profit work, preferably in the U.S refugee program.
  • Previous experience with strategic planning, management or consulting.

  • Experience with grants management, and/or proposal/business development.

  • High level of comfort with MS Excel, Word and PowerPoint

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a social science, non-profit management, or other relevant field required.

  • Preferred: Graduate degree in social work, international development, human rights, non-profit management or another field related to the IRC's work.

Other: 

  • Fluent or professional proficiency in English.

  • Ability to travel approximately 10-15% of time.
