Candidates maintained on a roster should be screened for qualifications, references, prior work experience, and separation of good standing.

UNICEF works in some of the world’s toughest places, to reach the world’s most disadvantaged children. To save their lives. To defend their rights. To help them fulfill their potential.

Across 190 countries and territories, we work for every child, everywhere, every day, to build a better world for everyone.

And we never give up.

For every child, hope

How can you make a difference?

Selected writers and editors will be placed on a roster and can be called upon for their services when needed. The jobs will vary, depending on the requesting team and its needs. The requesting team will give the details of the services required, and writers and editors will have a chance to discuss the job for clarification before accepting the assignment.

MAIN TASKS:

Jobs can range from proofreading to editing and rewriting for editors, and for writers, they can involve research, rewriting and creating new documents, such as reports, guidance notes, proposals and programme overviews.

DELIVERABLES:

The deliverables will be specified by the requesting team, but in general they will entail producing well-written materials that are consistent with UNICEF style and meet the standards of being clear, concise and consistent as well as compelling. All texts must be free of jargon and 'institutional' language, which might be understood in UNICEF but not by an external audience.

VALIDITY PERIOD OF A ROSTER:

The selected writers and editors will be placed on the roster. The roster may not exceed a three-year validity period.

REPORTING TO:

The writers and editors will report to a focal point in the team requesting their services. Any questions or concerns can be addressed to the Editor of PFP.

WORK PLACE:

Most assignments will be communicated and negotiated electronically and completed remotely. In cases where the writer or editor needs to work in a UNICEF office, the requesting team and the writer/editor will agree on the logistics of the work arrangement.
