UNICEF Ukraine is supporting the global response to COVID-19, including through its risk communication and community engagement activities. UNICEF Ukraine relies on digital tools and channels as the key platform to reach out to the vulnerable groups of population, including families with children living in the conflict-affected regions of eastern Ukraine and provide them up-to-date, reliable and easy-to-access information about health, education related issues etc.

UNICEF works in some of the world’s toughest places, to reach the world’s most disadvantaged children. To save their lives. To defend their rights. To help them fulfill their potential.

Across 190 countries and territories, we work for every child, everywhere, every day, to build a better world for everyone.

And we never give up.

Purpose of the assignment:

UNICEF Ukraine is supporting the global response to COVID-19, including through its risk communication and community engagement activities.  UNICEF Ukraine relies on digital tools and channels as the key platform to reach out to the vulnerable groups of population, including families with children living in the conflict-affected regions of eastern Ukraine and provide them up-to-date, reliable and easy-to-access information about health, education related issues etc.

Moreover, mobilization of various social media channels – Facebook, Twitter, TikTok, Instagram, Youtube, etc. –helps reach out to UNICEF core target audience: children, adolescents and youth.

In Ukraine dubious advice, myths and fake news about COVID-19 are proliferating on social media and messaging applications in context of fast-paced national outbreak. Low trust in the healthcare system and limited knowledge about the new drive many Ukrainians to seek remedies online. Misinformation during times of a health crisis can spread paranoia, fear, and stigmatization. It can also result in people being left unprotected or more vulnerable to the virus. In addition, due to the highly limited opportunity to reach local population in NGCA through printed materials or TV, social media steps up in its importance.

In this regard, UNICEF Ukraine seeks a Junior Social Media Content Creator to manage and expand UNICEF social media channels, adapt messaging of global social media campaigns, develop various types of content for UNICEF Ukraine social media channels in response to COVID-19 outbreak in Ukraine. It will help to raise awareness among Ukrainians, in particular risk groups - including those living close to conflict line and NGCA - about preventive behavior, track and address of misinformation, cases of stigma and hate speech. Regular media monitoring will also help to measure success of all COVID interventions by UNICEF and other partners to provide analysis of the communication campaigns and adjust their implementation.

Junior Communication consultant will work under the supervision of the Head of Communication Section in cooperation with Digital Communication Consultant. He or she will coordinate closely with Communication Section and C4D Sections, as well as Health and Education Sections.
