Background

The Hydrogen Economy Portfolio of UNDP China office is looking for an intern to assist work of the portfolio and the team. This internship opportunity will allow the successful candidate to gain hands-on multilateral experience in promoting sustainable development and particularly the clean energy sector. The intern is expected to participate in tasks related to project management, partnership building, knowledge management, public communication and innovation, and support the organization of international conferences.

The projects under the portfolio and its broader team includes hydrogen and fuel cell economy, low carbon economy, grey hair economy and livelihoods and resilience.

Duties and Responsibilities

The Intern, under the guidance and direct supervision of the Programme Manager for the Hydrogen Economy Portfolio, will carry out the following duties and responsibilities:

  • Assist in the overall project management of the Portfolio and its broader team;
  • Assist in collecting regular project reports, financial records and maintaining archives of relevant communications and documents;
  • Assist in knowledge management including drafting knowledge products and facilitate information sharing;
  • Provide solid support on promoting the visibility and influence of the projects, and assist in designing and implementing public communication activities to targeted audience;
  • Provide solid support on the planning, organisation of conferences, public campaigns and relevant events and ensure logistics management for such events;
  • Assist in the drafting, translation, and proofreading of reports, speeches, project documents, meeting agendas and minutes or other related files etc
  • Assist in partnership strengthening and building;
  • Perform other ad hoc tasks as assigned.

Education

  • Within one year of finishing or about to finish graduate or undergraduate studies by end 2020;
  • Academic degree with focus on environment policy, international development, public policy, or a related field strongly desirable;
  • Candidates other academic background, such as English or business, but are quick learners demonstrating strong interest in environmental issues are equally encouraged to apply.

Experience

  • Hands-on experience providing administrative support to ensure operational efficiency and compliance is a must;
  • Basic knowledge in clean energy and climate change issues and the UN’s mandate on them is a must;
  • Experience working under high pressure and delivery results at pace;
  • Experience in planning, promoting, and organising events;
  • Experience drafting diplomatic documents in English and Chinese is an asset.

Language Requirements

  • Excellent command of English and Chinese;
  • Knowledge in other UN official languages is desirable.
