To keep pace with growth we are looking forward to recruiting a Senior Advisor URE* within our Inclusive Eye Health (IEH) Initiative.

The position is a Fulltime position with  39 h/week.

This position is only filled locally. With contractual conditions of the respective country. An expatriation is not intended.

These are your responsibilities

  • Leading strategy development on Uncorrected Refractive Error (URE) and School Eye Health (SHE) in CBM
  • Leading on strategic vision, including innovative approaches regarding Uncorrected Refractive Error (URE) and School Eye Health (SHE) and thematic representation of CBM in international advisory fora.
  • Providing thematic, content-related programme support regarding URE and SEH initiatives for countries where comprehensive, inclusive eye health programmes are being supported by CBM
  • Knowledge management, capacity development and thematic guidance for regional structures and country offices as well as implementing partners and organisations
  • Evaluation of existing programmatic initiatives and plausibility assessments in terms of quality assurance and putting services up to scale, preferably resulting into multi-annual planning cycles for own initiatives as well as for co-funding proposals, including consortia  
  • Acting as primary reference person for grant managers as well as co-funding and communication officers for strategic projection and conceptual approaches in proposals and media regarding URE and SEH
  • Spearheading and influencing policy decision changes with line ministries in countries where CBM is active in URE and SEH as part of comprehensive, inclusive eye health programmes
  • Active participation in CBM’s technical leadership team for Inclusive Eye Health and IEH Community of Practice

These are your qualifications

  • Degree in ophthalmology, optometry, medicine, public health, social science, development cooperation or equivalent knowledge gained through working expertise
  • Min. of 5 years' experience in the eye health sector, with a strong focus on URE and SEH
  • Sound understanding of trends and policy frameworks in the international eye health sector
  • Experience in networking, advocacy and influencing with global networks and stakeholders, ideally in a health-related field
  • Sound experience and knowledge of project cycle management
  • Excellent communication skills
  • "hands-on" mentality
  • Independent, agile and flexible working style
  • Good knowledge of English, French/Spanish/German desirable
  • Computer literacy, including experience with use of Microsoft packages such as Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Access  
  • Identification with the Christian values and mandate of CBM
