Mission and objectives

UNDP Thailand works with the Royal Thai Government and other partners to support inclusive and sustainable development, based on national priorities and plans. Thailand signed the UN Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework or UNSDCF 2022-2026 with the Royal Thai Government in 2021. The UNSDCF is a document which articulates outcomes for the next five years and UN agencies’ responsibilities that are agreed by the Government UNDP Thailand is at the start of implementing its current Country Programme Document (CPD) 2022–2026, which sets out the direction for a new UNDP and is optimized to help Thailand achieve the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. Reducing gender inequalities and empowering vulnerable groups is vital to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals.

Context

UNDP Thailand works to improve the lives of the people in Thailand through an integrated approach to achieve the SDGs. In Thailand, UNDP works with the Royal Thai Government, civil society, national partners and the private sector to promote an inclusive and integrated approach to achieving the SDGs. Addressing gender equality and social inclusion is a central part of UNDP’s work, and is cross-cutting through all work by the Country Office (CO). UNDP is co-chair of the Inter-Agency Gender Theme Group, thus leading with UN Women a ‘one UN’ approach to promote gender equality in Thailand under the direction of the United Nations Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework (UNSDCF).
