Colombia: Green Growth Implementation Intern

 

The Global Green Growth Institute internship program (also called "Grow Green" Program) provides a unique learning opportunity for students and recent graduates from diverse academic backgrounds. The program is designed for talented and motivated individuals skilled in areas relevant to GGGI’s operations. The program allows selected candidates to gain insight into the work of the Institute and provides assistance and training in various professional fields in a multicultural environment. CURRENT OPPORTUNITY

We are looking for one (1) talented individual to work with us in Colombia Office to provide support to the UKPACT team in the workstreams related with monitoring, implementation, dissemination, and positioning of the Green Growth Policy. This work will be carried together with the Directorate of Environment and Sustainable Development (DESD) of the National Planning Department (NPD).

Following the guidelines of the GGGI in Colombia and under the supervision of the Green Growth Implementation Officer, the intern will support the following functions:

  1. Monitoring and implementing the Green Growth Policy, specifically in the strategic lines of sustainable mobility and efficient energy management, the strategic lines of science, technology and information, inter-institutional coordination and institutional capacities.
  2. Implementing the roadmap to position the Green Growth Policy.
  3. Supporting the technical secretariat exerted by the DESD of the Joint Technical Sustainability Committee of the National Competitiveness and Innovation System.
  4. Consolidating information related to green growth in the process of formulating the National Development Plan 2022-2026.
  5. Preparation and development of work groups on green growth that they carry out in the process of planning and formulating the National Development Plan 2022-2026.
  6. Supporting the design and execution of events, meetings and knowledge sharing activities, within the framework of the UKPACT projects implemented by GGGI.

 

ELIGIBILITY

Applicants to the GGGI internship program must at the time of application meet the following requirements:

    • Be enrolled in a Bachelor’s (final year), Master’s or Ph.D. program before internship assignment, or a recent graduate within the last 12 months.
    • Be engaged or recently engaged in academic study in a field directly related to the Institute’s work.
    • Possess an excellent command of English.

 

QUALIFICATIONS
    • Majoring/majored in biology, environmental biology, forest engineer, environmental engineer, environmental management, ecology, geography, or related engineering from Colombian universities accredited by the Ministry of National Education
    • Experience in monitoring or designing of environmental regulations and/or indicators (research experience applies) is preferred.
    • Should be able to speak native-level Spanish (Excellent reading, oral and written Spanish).
    • Commitment to the mission and values of the GGGI.
    • Ability to establish and maintain good working relationships with people in different contexts.
    • Positive and constructive personal and work attitude.
    • Capacity for teamwork.
    • Interest in continuing their professional learning and applying new skills.
    • Analytical and methodological skills to organize ideas, structure texts, and presentations and write documents.
    • Self-motivated, detail-oriented individuals with good organizational skills.
    • Dependability, flexibility, and ability to maintain confidentiality

 

SELECTION PROCESS
    • Applications submitted after the deadline will not be considered.
    • GGGI evaluates applications based on eligibility requirements, relevance of academic study and work experience (if any); and the level of interest and motivation to contribute to development work.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION 
    • Duration: The internship program is for at least three months and up to six months. Once selected, interns must begin your internship either prior to or within 12 months of graduation. 
    • Stipend: GGGI interns receive a monthly stipend of USD$500 per month. All costs related to travel, insurance, accommodation, and living expenses must be borne by either the interns or their sponsoring institutions.  
    • Visa: GGGI will provide a supporting letter for visa. Interns will be responsible for obtaining and financing the necessary visas.  
    • Travel: Intern will arrange and finance their travel to the internship location.  
    • Medical Insurance: Interns must present proof of valid medical insurance to GGGI upon returning the signed internship contract.
    • Confidentiality: Interns must keep confidential any and all unpublished information obtained during the course of the internship and may not publish any documents based on such information.  
    • Academic Credit: Interns may get academic credit from their institution of higher education for the internship. Interns need to check with their university to confirm their academic credit policy for internships.  
    • Working Hours: Interns are expected to work during normal working hours. Leave should be pre-approved by the Intern Manager, and the latter should inform the Office of HR accordingly.
    • Learning Outcomes: before completion of the internship, Intern Managers are expected to review the learning outcomes with the intern.
    • Certificate: provided upon successful completion of the internship, upon request.
