Background:

Gender, Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion (GEDI) is a key component of the IRC’s strategy and vision, and has been identified as a core global priority for our strategic plan, Strategy100.  As an organization, we are committed anti-racism and fighting discrimination, understanding the systemic underpinnings of both, and recognizing that different parts of the world experience these issues in different ways. The IRC GEDI action plan aims to build an inclusive organizational culture where diversity will be championed and represented at all leadership levels and every staff member is safe respected and encouraged to bring their authentic self to work.

The IRC have recently conducted an organizational wide Diversity Equality and Inclusion survey (the IRC people Survey) with the aim to understand staff composition across social identity and how

how employment-related indicators and feeling o inclusion and engagement vary across social identities and context. The IRC people survey result and finding are used to refine and strengthen country and regional GEDI strategy and action plans.

In order to advance and strengthen our approach to GEDI in the MENA region, IRC is looking for an independent consultant to support IRC leaders to identify priorities and implement key GEDI initiatives in the Region (Syria, Iraq, Lebanon, Jordan , Libya) leveraging existing strategic priorities and learning from the IRC people survey results.

Scope of Work:

Based on existing IRC, industry wide best practices and contextual knowledge of the MENA GEDI related dynamics, the independent consultant will:

Provide GEDI expertise to support IRC regional and country leadership to fine tune the Action Plans as developed by the various country programs and to command and follow up the delivery of the Action

Provide expertise to support ongoing GEDI initiatives at regional and country level including mobilizing employee resources groups and providing expertise for GEDI transformative programming and deliver training for staff and leaders.

 Fine tune the Regional GEDI Strategy and co create with Leadership an Action Plan that is informed from the People Survey data as well as deep dives, other focus group discussions that have been had in the countries as well as the Regional and Country Strategic Action Plans (SAP)

Deliverables:

People survey action planning, regional and country strategy – Immediate Priority

Establish in collaboration with HR regional and country leaders a clear approach on how to implement the people survey action planning phase in the region in a way that is inclusive, constructive and action oriented. 

Facilitate  people survey and action planning discussions with Regional and country leaders and identify list of priority action at country and regional level with subsequent resource needs.

Establish GEDI Action Plans in the 5 countries including strategy action plan Target.

Revised and updated version of the MENA regional strategy that reflect People survey action planning phase decision.

Coordination and management

Refine regional approach to support the W@W groups at country and regional level and facilitate regular engagement with senior management at country and regional level when needed

Facilitate monthly  Regional GEDI Working group by convening regular meetings, with agendas and follow up with action items in a timely manner.

Produce monthly  update on GEDI action plan progress in MENA.

Capacity building and technical support to program teams

Design and facilitate training for leaders, GEDI focal point and program staff based on regional and country priorities. (anticipate 3 to 5 training sessions)

Review proposal and concept note from a GEDI perspective and socialize the use of GEDI analysis tools with Technical advisors and program coordinators.
