Organizational Setting

The Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) is a specialized agency of the United Nations that leads international efforts to defeat hunger. Our goal is to achieve food security for all and make sure that people have regular access to enough high-quality food to lead active, healthy lives.

The Data Collection and Support Specialist will be assigned in Astana or Almaty, Kazakhstan and will provide support to the FAO Partnership and Liaison Office in the Republic of Kazakhstan.


Reporting Lines

The Data Collection and Support Specialist will report to the Officer-in-Charge (OiC) of FAO Kazakhstan office.


Technical Focus

The Data Collection and Support Specialist will assist in data and information collection and conduct preliminary analysis to aid the formulation of the investment component of the FAO-Kazakhstan Partnership Program (FKPP).


Tasks and responsibilities

● Conduct research to collect data, information, and analytics to establish partnerships with potential FKPP investment partners, both national and international.
● Support the OiC in initiating and establishing contacts with national counterparts and international partners for participation in FKPP’s investment component.
● Organize and coordinate meetings, including preparing agendas, minutes, and necessary documentation.
● Assist in the preparation of speeches, presentations, and other communication materials for OiC and other team members.
● Compile and maintain a database of contacts and potential partners, tracking communication and follow-ups.
● Assist in the development and dissemination of promotional materials and updates about investment component of the FKPP.
● Provide administrative and logistical support for the related activities and events.
● Prepare regular reports on the progress of partnerships and potential investment opportunities for FKPP.
● Assist in liaising with other FAO divisions and teams as necessary to ensure alignment and synergy in partnership efforts.
● Perform any other tasks assigned by the OiC that align with the objective of supporting the operationalization of the FKPP’s investment component.

Minimum Requirements

● University degree in agriculture, economics, business administration, trade, and management, finance or related discipline;
● At least 2 years of relevant experience in the above-mentioned fields;
● Working knowledge of English and Russian;
● National of Kazakhstan or resident of the country with valid work permit.

● Proficiency in relevant software and technology tools for presentations, data management, and communication.
● Knowledge of Kazakh is an advantage.
