Software Developer Consultant, Innovations Lab Kosovo – Local consultant

 

Post is located at UNICEF office in Prishtina, Kosovo (UNSC 1244).

 

Purpose of the job:

Under direct supervision of Design Centre Officer, analyses the software tools and redesigns them, maintains and ensure regular update for online code repositories, tests the application, ensures quality, writes documentation materials for the application, and works as a team member with other software developers.

 

  1. Desired Qualification:

    1. Completion of university degree in relevant field (i.e. computer science), preferably professional

      Certification or post-graduate courses in the same field.

    2. Fluency in English; fluency in Albanian and/or Serbian a plus.
    3. Proficient in one or more of the following technologies: Python, Ruby, JS/PHP/SQL, Java
    4. Proficient in the application of agile development methodologies (SCRUM, XP, etc.)

       

  2. Work Experience:

    1. Two years of progressive experience in programming and software development using open source technologies (Python, Ruby, JS/PHP (Laravel Framework)/SQL, Java)
    2. Experience working in PHP Laravel Framework is a benefit.

       

  3. Main Duties and Responsibilities:

    1. Redesign the existing tool to meet new requirements
    2. Support coding in open source languages (preferably PHP Laravel Framework) to develop the necessary functionality, templates and implement approved designs for the platform.
    3. Redesign the existing database in open source database management system, MySQL.
    4. Set up and maintaining web-servers for Linux environment.
    5. Develop required modules and publishing them on social coding repositories (such as GitHub) on a regular basis.
    6. Test, debugging, and quality assurance on all platform modules, as required.
    7. Document software products, commenting source code, and producing user manuals and technical guide

       

  4. Contract Type and Duration:

    1. Selected candidate will be contracted under the UNICEF SSA contract.
    2. Contract covers the period of 11.5 months with the possibility of extension.
