The Digital Strategy Section (DSS) seeks to hire a part-time Junior UX/UI Production Designer to provide detailed wireframes, design compositions, prototypes, and technical specifications for front-end user interface designs prepared for technical development.

The Digital Strategy Section (DSS) within the Division of Communication comprises Web, Social Media and Multimedia teams working together to create compelling public-facing content and to provide digital services within the organization. Through multiple platforms and in multiple languages, DSS draws attention to the many facets of UNICEF’s work, encouraging public support, participation and action, as well as ensuring greater transparency and accountability.

Web stories, blog entries, photo essays, Facebook posts, Twitter campaigns, and videos for distribution via UNICEF.org, YouTube, news media and other outlets and platforms – all are a part of our digital storytelling. By measuring and testing our efforts, we also use data to inform content and engagement choices.

How can you make a difference?

The Digital Platforms and Governance Team continues to evolve and build upon a global ecosystem for UNICEF.org, creating pages with existing components, features and templates; as well as developing new components, features and templates for ongoing communication needs.

DSS seeks to hire a part-time Junior UX/UI Production Designer to provide detailed wireframes, design compositions, prototypes, and technical specifications for front-end user interface designs prepared for technical development.

The consultant will create and maintain a master style library for templated front-end design elements, and internal wireframe and user journey documentation designs that correspond to functional templates and features. The consultant will support in creating supporting/editorial visual assets such as iconography, infographics, and user interfaces. The designs will utilize Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Photoshop, Sketch, and InVision tools, in addition to embedded software, such as but not limited to, Infogram and Hootsuite.

The consultant will work directly with the Creative/UX Lead, and the Senior Designer to create final deliverables the Digital Platforms and Governance Team provides for partners in the Web Editorial Team, Digital Strategy Section, and in Information and Communication Technology.

Responsibilities:

  • Create detailed technical specifications of User Interface designs to handover for internal presentation and technical development.
  • When necessary, created prototypes to illustrate functionality of components, features, or sites.
  • Create and iterate on templated User Interface and Editorial assets such as iconography and infographics.
  • Create and maintain a style library of current design elements for the front-end user interface, and a custom wireframing system for internal communication.
  • Monitor evolution of web design standards; research and determine design guidelines and documentation.
  • Assist editorial team in creation of wireframes, user journeys and site maps.
  • Monitor existing sites for quality assurance and compliance with design standards and guidelines.
  • Perform other duties as required.

As an advocate for every child, you will have…

  • A university degree (Bachelors or higher) in a design, front end development, or related subject matters are required, or relevant work experience.
  • A minimum of 2 of relevant professional experience working with front end design for digital products, including user experience and user interface design production.
  • Developing country work experience and/or familiarity with emergency is considered an asset.
  • Fluency in English is required. Knowledge of another official UN language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian or Spanish) or a local language is an asset.
