Internship Humanitarian Directorate (m/f)
in Bonn
The position is to be filled in March/ April 2019, with an contract duration of 6 Month. The place of work will be Bonn, in Germany. Voluntary internships are limited to a maximum of three months and the workload is 20 hours/week in order to enable further qualification within the framework of ongoing training. Duration and scope of work for compulsory internships depend on the respective study regulations and are accordingly possible in full and part time.
Your responsibilities
As an intern in our Humanitarian Directorate you will become familiar with one of Welthungerhilfe’s diverse areas of activities and gain broad insights into our humanitarian work. Depending on your skills, experience and interest the following topics could possibly be addressed during your internship:
- Support development and set up of a Welthungerhilfe Humanitarian Assistance “toolbox” for humanitarian practitioners
- Design and composition of thematic intranet areas to specific topics in cooperation with thematic experts
- Provide layout, graphic and GIS mapping support
- Support conceptualization of mainstreaming humanitarian standards
- Research on self-reliance livelihood approaches regarding displacement and migration
- Support in visualizing and drafting SOPs for humanitarian tasks and structures
- Support the production of electronic guidande and orientation documents for field practitioners
- Support global crises anticipation and crisis monitoring
- Assist in preparation of reports and briefings for internal and external use
- General office tasks
Your profile
- You are matriculated at University during the whole time of the internship; ideally obtaining a degree in humanitarian assistance studies, geopgraphy, disaster risk management or related fields
- You easily familiarize yourself with new topics and like to work independently
- You are communicative and like to liaise with others
- fluent English language skills and basic German skills
- Intercultural competence
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office package (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Knowledge of ArcGIS
- Preferable Knowledge of Microsoft Sharepoint
