The United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) Chad Country Office in N’Djamena seeks a dedicated, experienced and highly motivated Partnerships Officer for its Partnerships Team. Under the supervision of the Partnerships Manager, the Officer will contribute to initiating and enhancing donor relations with existing and potential partners, carrying out donor mapping exercise, producing briefing and advocacy materials, work in close collaboration with the Communication section on key events for advocacy, drafting proposals in collaboration with sections, and keeping abreast on issues related to UNICEF Chad Country Programme.

How can you make a difference?

1. Contribute to developing the UNICEF Chad Country Office resource mobilisation Strategy through analysis of the global, regional and in-country donor trend and keep an up-to-date partners list, with a view to enhancing partnerships.
2. In collaboration with the programme section chiefs and officers, develop funding proposals in line with the resource mobilisation strategy. Undertake research on donor interests and advise the sections of new funding opportunities.
3. Adopt a proactive and strategic approach to new partnerships, by supporting the negotiation process and finalization of strategic alliances for leveraging resources for children (financial and non-financial).
4. Develop talking points, briefing notes and fact sheets to enhance advocacy and leverage resources.
5. Ensure regular monitoring of funding needs. Contribute to analysis and strategic orientation of funds with section chiefs and Deputy Representative.
6. Support overall donor relations including meetings with donors, preparation of background information materials for donor visits. Support field offices during missions in collaboration with the Communications and programme sections.
7. Support the Deputy Representative and section chiefs to compile and produce mandatory UNICEF reports, including the annual report.

To qualify as an advocate for every child you will have

Education
Advanced university degree in International Relations, Journalism, Communications, Public Relations, or related field. A first University Degree with a relevant combination of academic qualifications and experience may be accepted in lieu of Advanced University Degree.
Work Experience
- At least two years practical professional work experience in donor relations, communication or related field
- Strong demonstrated experience in proposal writing required. Proven ability to synthesize and powerfully convey messages and good knowledge and understanding of UNICEF programmatic work and principles will be an advantage
- Excellent organizational and analytical skills, with close attention to detail
- Solid experience in the usage of computers and office software programmes and experience in handling web-based management systems.
- International and national work experience
- Background/familiarity with emergency situations would be an asset
Language Proficiency
Fluency in English and French. Knowledge of the local working language is an asset
