Introduction

 

This position is located in the Application Management Services Branch (AMS) within the Information and Technology Management Department (INFOTEC). INFOTEC manages and governs the ILO’s portfolio of information and technology assets.

 

AMS is responsible for the design, development, maintenance and management of large-scale enterprise applications in support of administrative processes, knowledge sharing, decision-making and collaborative working.  The Branch ensures that software being deployed throughout the Office conforms to ILO directives, policies and standards; provides measurable organizational value; aligns with Office-wide strategies and objectives; and represents effective and efficient use of technology.  AMS is responsible for implementing agile, cost-effective, innovative and transformative digital solutions to improve business processes and to support staff with the tools and applications they need to increase productivity and improve working methods.  The Branch manages the following general application categories and technology solutions: Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) and Administrative Applications; Analytics, Business Intelligence, Data Warehousing and Reporting; Enterprise Content Management (ECM), Intranet and Public Website; Digital Working Methods, Knowledge Sharing and Collaboration; and Custom Developed Applications and Solutions.

 

The position provides expertise in application testing and quality processes for the upgrade of the ILO implementation of the Oracle e-Business Suite (IRIS) from v. 12.1.3 to 12.2.X. The position creates test cases, tracks project test results, prepares testing environments, executes test cases and ensures solutions function without error in support of the upgrade project. The position engages solution analysts and business stakeholders to ensure comprehensive testing is undertaken and identified issues are properly tracked and resolved in a systematic manner.

 

This position reports to a Senior Functional Analyst in AMS.

Description of Duties

 

  1. Assist the IRIS Upgrade project manager and Test Manager to develop a test plan including timelines, resources and activities which ensures all IRIS functions and processes are validated prior to the production upgrade process being performed.
  2. Compile statistics, issues and risks and assist the Test Manager to prepare a periodic status report on testing in relation to the IRIS Upgrade project.
  3. Liaise with the IRIS Upgrade project manager and solution analysts to review areas impacted by the upgrade including custom code, functionality configuration, standard functionality and operational processes and to determine the impact on existing test cases and scenarios.
  4. Prepare test cases and scenarios which can be used to test functional and technical IRIS components and ensure its successful functioning as changes are implemented or upgraded.  Implement and maintain a central, searchable repository of automated and manual reusable test cases, data and scripts to ensure IRIS and IRIS bolt-on solutions can be tested throughout their life.
  5. Prepare test environments to enable testing.  Load data and values as needed to test processes and functions throughout IRIS.
  6. Execute test cases and test IRIS and IRIS bolt-on processes, functions and systems to ensure IRIS functions as intended. 
  7. Engage technical colleagues to automate test cases where possible.  Provide guidance and review outputs to ensure the cases have been automated successfully.
  8. Engage the user community to gather user focused test cases and incorporate them into the IRIS Upgrade project.  Coordinate user focused testing with the user community as needed.
  9. Schedule and coordinate tests with assigned testers, record and monitor results, report defects, define severity and priority for each defect. Engage solution analysts as needed to review failed cases and take steps as needed to retest and resolve as possible.  Maintain up to date status of all retesting required.
  10. Report on and monitor quality KPIs and indicators for each testing cycle.
  11. Perform other relevant duties as assigned.
Required qualifications
Education

 

First level university degree in IT, Information Management or an applicable business area related to finance, human resource management or other organizational administrative area.

Experience

 

• At least five years of professional experience implementing, using or supporting the Oracle e-Business Suite v. 12.1.3 or higher.
• A minimum of two years of relevant experience should be at the international level.
• Previous experience working in the United Nations is an advantage.
• Working knowledge of test management software (e.g. Oracle Application Test Suite, qTest, Zephyr, Selenium, Open Source) would be an advantage.
• Working knowledge of SQL and Java would be an advantage.

Languages

 

Excellent command of English. Working knowledge of a second official language (French, Spanish) of the Organization would be an advantage.
