Software Testing Expert

The UN’s Office of Information and Communications Technology (OICT) is responsible for defining the strategic direction for Information and Communications Technology (ICT) to the UN Secretariat. It provides oversight of ICT programs, budgets, and decision-making to ensure alignment with the Secretariat’s overall ICT strategy. 

 

The Strategic Solutions unit in India is supporting various ICT development initiatives for its HQ at Vienna, Austria. In this unit, we are looking for a Software Testing Expert who is motivated to 

comprehend and help produce quality-assured software solutions. 

 

Within delegated authority and in close cooperation with the Software Production Coordinator, the Software Testing Expert will be responsible for the Duties and Responsibilities mentioned in the section below.

 

 

III. Functions / Key Results Expected

Summary of Key Functions

 

• Participate in the testing, debugging, and implementation of new application systems 
• releases, modules, and functionalities.
• Develops test cases and automates standard testing procedures using UN-established 
• standards for IT technologies, programming languages, and tools.
• Analyze the collected error/defect data to better understand how errors are introduced and 
• can be eliminated. Ensure tight management of milestones and progress of ongoing 
• software development projects.
• Undertakes rigorous manual testing of applications software
• Documents testing and quality assurance processes and communicate the same to the team in a clear manner.
• Perform quality assurance issues prioritization and resolution facilitation.
• Ensure traceability of test cases to requirements, working with the project to ensure all requirements are tested.
• Works with developers to identify unit testing coverage and ensure any gaps are documented and addressed.
• Performs workflow analysis and recommends quality improvements.
• Ensures data security and integrity.
• Perform other duties as assigned

Education: An advanced university degree or professional qualification in  computer science, information systems, or related field.

 

Experience: At least five years of experience in software testing is required.

Knowledge of formal testing and deployment methods from conception through to go-live (system, regression, and UAT testing) is required.

 

Language Requirement: English and French are the working languages of the United 

Nations Secretariat. For this position, fluency in English is required; Knowledge of Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian, Spanish language is an advantage

 

The remuneration package is Rs 98,492/- per month (taxable). UNDP also offers additional benefits which include medical insurance coverage and limited pension reimbursement for contract holder and encourages work-life balance.
