Tasks and responsibilities

Under the overall supervision of the FAO Representative in Azerbaijan, the technical supervision of the LTO, the direct supervision of FAPP Manager and Field Programme Unit, in close coordination with the National Project Coordinator and the Agrarian Credits and Development Agency under the Ministry of Agriculture, and the Junior Technical Officer of the Project, the Community Mobilizer Consultant will perform the below tasks\:

  • Assisting in the establishment and the guidance of small holder sheep producers’ farmers associations;
  • Identify within the project framework the farmers that will participate in the farmers associations;
  • Advise on the modus operandi of these associations;
  • Advocate among farmers for the establishment of these associations;
  • Meet with farmers and coach them during the process of farmers associations establishment;
  • Organize farmers meeting aiming at the above;
  • Visit farmers individually as part of the advocacy and coaching process above;
  • Identify gaps to be addressed in order to support the associations;
  • Advise on expertise and experts needed to support the farmers’ associations;
  • Assist in recruiting the identified expertise;
  • Support and advise the associations to the level that close as possible to being functional beyond the project life.
CANDIDATES WILL BE ASSESSED AGAINST THE FOLLOWING
Minimum Requirements
  • Background in agriculture or livestock either through education or proven professional experience;
  • At least 8 years of experience in the required field;
  • Knowledge of Azerbaijani and English languages.

Technical/Functional Skills

  • Proven ability to mobilize communities, preferably on farmers associations;

  • Good verbal and written communication skills;
